Case History
Hepatitis C & Acupuncture
|
Patient:
Mrs. ABC
Ages: 41
Case regisrered: May, 19, 1997.
History:
The patient had a car accident and a blood transfusion
25 years ago. Unfortunately, she contacted Hepatitis C virus since. So
she had been feeling:
1/-hot inside and her completion was red;
2/-tired all the time;
3/-foggy in her head;
4/-better when she was laying down or resting;
----worse when she was standing up or working;
5/-burning at ChungKuan(VC12) and at right ChingMen(GB25);
6/-aching or sometimes throbbing in right Hip at HuanTiao(GB30)
and down to right knee at TsuSanLi(St36), YangLingChuan(GB34) or up to
FengChih(GB20).
7/-hard to sleep: 3 to 5 hours a night.
Pulse : thin and very weak in the Kidney and
Spleen position.
Laboratory test: Before acupuncture treatment, Liver Enzyme had
been increasing every month. AST=108, ALT=100 ( Normal = 10 - 40).
Explanation:
The Pulse showed that the energy level of her system was
very low and imbalanced: There was a deficient Qi of Kidney (=
water yin ) and Spleen (= earth yin ).
Because it was not enough Yin (= cold,...) energy, that mean the
rate Yin/Yang became Yin < Yang or Cold,..< Hot,...,
so she felt:
1/-hot inside and her completion was red (= sign
of Yin less than Yang ).
2/-tired all the time (= sign of lack of energy ).
3/-foggy (=sign of smoke, fire= sign of Yin less than Yang ).
4/-lying position (passive=Yin ): when she was lying down,
she got more Yin energy, so the relation Yin < Yang became less severe,
therefore, she felt better..
---standing or working position (active=Yang ): when
she was standing or working, she got more Yang energy, so the relation
Yin < Yang became more severe, therefore, she felt worse..
5/-burning (= sign of Yin less than Yang ) at ChungKuan(VC20)
and at ChingMen(GB25) were showing the lack of Yin energy in the EarthCoupleOrgan
(=Spleen+Stomach) and the WoodCoupleOrgan (=Liver+GallBladder)..
6/-aching or throbbing on GallBladder Meridian (HuanTiao:
GB30 & YangLingChuan: GB34 & FengChih: GB20) and Stomach Meridian
(TsuSanLi: St36)..showing the relation of the Profound Meridian ( Liver,
Spleen) and the Superficial Meridian (GallBlader, Stomach).
7/-hard to sleep (= sign of Yin less than Yang ) .
Diagnosis:
Deficient Qi of Kidney, Spleen and Liver Meridian.
Acupuncture Treatment:
- Start
- :
May, 19, 1997
- Methode of Acupuncture Treatment
- :
Tonify Yin energy by using the following points:.
KuanYuen(VC4) and ChungKuan(VC12) on Conception Vessel, TsuSanLi ( St36)
and
Ears points: Liver point.
Results:
- After the first treatment, the patient recognized a
little bit looser , less burning in the liver area.
- After 6 sessions, she felt a lot better, clearer in
the head ( no more foggy) and slept 6 - 7 hours a night
.
- After one month with 8 sessions, she had a laboratory
blood test ( on Jun, 22, 1997 ) again with very good result:
her liver almost returned to normal function: Liver Enzyme AST= 55,
ALT= 49
- She had been continuing to have acupuncture treatment,
once a week, in 5 months (= 20 sessions ), and she had another
laboratory blood test ( on Nov, 12, 1997 ) again. This time,
she was very please with the terrific result: AST= 53 and ALT=47.
- For " tuning up" her system, she has been
continuing to have acupuncture treatment once a month, or every two
or three months, although now (May, 01, 1999 ) she was recovered
completely !
